RD 1007 responsibly maintains approximately 8.5 miles of non-project levees along the south bank of the Old River and a portion of the Sugar Cut.

District levees protect over 5,000 acres of agricultural land producing various types of row crops and hosting livestock operations, as well as critical state infrastructure.  Approximately 200 homes and ranches sit below the flood plain in the District.

RD 1007 is located in the secondary zone of the legal Delta.
